Madagascar has an abundance in wildlife which is often preserved in national parks. A number of national parks are available to visitors to explore some of these rare beauties of nature. One such a park is the Andasibe-Mantadia National Park stretching over more than 100 miles on the eastern side of Madagascar. The park is home to 11 lemur species, including the Indri, which is the largest kind you will find in Madagascar. Tourists can take a guided tour of up to 6 hours through the park.
One of the sacred places of importance it the Royal Hill of Ambohimanga. This is a historical village which was once the home to the Madagascar royals. It is more than 500 years old with a wall that surrounds the village, which was built in 1847. The wall was constructed of a mixture of lime and egg white. It is also the setting of the Mahandrihono compound which was the home of King Andrianampoinimerina. The walls of this structure were made of solid rosewood. The artifacts from this king are still present, including drums and weapons.
